PRENLAB-2 workshop, Nice during EGS2000

1) Presentations by participants in the PRENLAB-2 project on recent achievements, 20-30 minutes each.
a) Premonitory activity, foreshocks, warning algorithms.

• Reynir Böðvarsson Results of microearthquake studies within PRENLAB-2 from the Uppsala group.
b) Recent observations related to the nature and development
of the seismic zones.


• Ágúst Guðmundsson Fracture networks, fluid overpressure and transport in the Husavik-Flatey Fault

• Jacques Angelier, Françoise Bergerat , Sébastian Garcia, Catherine Homberg and Sigurdur Rögnvaldsson Inversion of large sets of focal mechanisms of earthquakes and seismotectonics of the Tjörnes Fracture Zone

• Françoise Bergerat, Jacques Angelier, and Agust Gudmundsson THE LEIRUBAKKI FAULT, A LARGE EARTHQUAKE RUPTURE OF THE SOUTH ICELAND SEISMIC ZONE
  

• Kurt L. Feigl, Jerome Gasperi, Freysteinn Sigmundsson, Alexis Rigo. Crustal deformation near Hengill volcano, Iceland 1993-1998: coupling between magmatic activity and faulting inferred from elastic modeling of satellite radar interferograms.
• Ragnar Stefánsson. Short overview of ongoing observational work and modelling, within PRENLAB-2, at the Icelandic Meterological Office.
c) Approaching models of the major fault zones.


• Maurizio Bonafede and Eleonora Rivalta ON ANTIPLANE DISLOCATION MODELS OF STRIKE-SLIP FAULTS IN LAYERED MEDIA

• Ragnar Stefánsson. A tentative model for the stress build up and stress release in and around the SISZ. Is there some progress?

2) Discussion on final steps in carrying out the project and reporting.
