Snapshots of the velocities at times t = 4.8, 9.6, 12.0, 18.0, and 24.0 s in map view for the reference model shown in Figure 4. Red is positive and blue is negative velocity. Vx is fault-perpendicular, Vy is fault-parallel and Vz is vertical velocity. The P-wave amplitudes are so small that they are not seen in the figure. The S-waves can be detected, but the largest amplitudes at times after t=12 s are the Love-waves. The S-waves arrive in Reykjavík between 18 and 24 s. Reflections from the boundaries of the model occur after t=18 s, but these have lower amplitudes that the peak velocities shown in previous figures.
